Wet and (not so) Wild

Guilin and Yangshuo Trip

We went to Guilin at the beginning of the month instead of Sanya (most of the guys at the office went there last month, so we opted to be the exceptions).

It was raining when we arrived on Friday. Not wanting to waste our trip staring at the four walls of our hotel room, we went to LuDi Yan (Reed Flute Cave, 60 RMB).

Reed Flute Cave
It was an amazing place, specially the Crystal Palace. Enhanced by strategically placed neon lights, the place has a magical feel to it (think Encantadia and Tinkerbell).

The tour lasted an hour (we didn't have a tour guide so we kind of just joined a Chinese tour group, following them everywhere...). It was pouring when we went out of the cave (come to think of it, it was raining inside, too) and we didn't have the foresight to ask the cab driver to wait for us (or come back for us) so we're stuck waiting for a bus.

There was a bus at the stop but it has a flat tire so it didn't count but after what seems like forever, the driver and his cronies were able to replace the tire. (Would you believe it took more than three people to change it?) We got on but the bus only took us to the next stop (I'm not really sure why). Fortunately, a group of Guilinese (?) approached us and offered to take us the highway with them. We road a Chinese tricycle (or is it a jeep?) to the highway for 1 kuai and one of them even took us to our hotel!

We rested for bit, then got trapped in the elevator because of a power outage. I definitely crossed that off my bucket list.

The rain hasn't let up and the Li River has flooded the streets. We crossed almost thigh-high flood waters to get to dinner but the steak was worth it. If you ever have the chance to go to Guilin, dining at Hao Heng Shi Jia at Zhongshan Zhong Lu is a must.

Blogging Woes

Medyo matagal na rin akong di nagba-blog. Hinihintay ko kasi na i-unblock ng gobyerno ang blogspot but they don't seem to be in a hurry to do it. It's been more that three freaking months!

Napagod na ako kakahintay, pagtitiyagan ko na ang mabagal kong proxy. Haay... pati Facebook blocked dito ngayon (pa'no na lang ang farm ko?)
